About the Federation
The Federation of Art Societies (Singapore) is an
establishment formed by a group of art societies in Singapore and was
registered with the Registry of Societies on 24th January
1992. Singapore Art Society, the
local art body with the largest number of membership, initiated the idea of
forming the federation together with several leading art groups in order to
get a shelter for fellow artists belonging to these art bodies to carry out
their artistic activities. Singapore Art Society, the Society of Chinese
Artists, Singapore Watercolour Society and the Modern Art Society were the
four pioneer founders and today there are all together twenty-six art
bodies under the federation’s big umbrella.
The ultimate motive of the federation is to unite the
different art societies together in order to shoulder the responsibility
and carry out the mission of promoting art and culture. Since then it has been actively
functioning and involving as well as organizing various forms of activities
to promote art and culture i.e. art courses, calligraphy lessons, life
model sketching & painting, talks & seminars, art exhibitions,
group tours to visit art groups abroad exchanging artistic ideas and
experiences as well as establishing good mutual relationship with artists
and art groups overseas.
Today, the federation has made it easier and faster
for anybody who wants to communicate or access to the information of art
related activities, art societies and viewing their member artists’ works
of art. The Federation of Art
Societies is now online, a website belonging to the federation is up and
running in the cyberspace, and we are continuously developing and improving
our website. FASS is having the intention of making it the largest and most
informative art site in this region, a place where anybody can locate
Singapore artists or artists in this region online.
Please feel free to visit our website frequently,
thank you.
